Nanny Jobs
There are several questions that you should ask when utilizing the services of a nanny employment agency. You want to be sure that the nanny agency’s selection process is as stringent and detailed as it should be. Knowing exactly how a particular agency selects their potential employees will be a great asset when deciding upon which agency you should use. Obviously, not all of these agencies are created equally and it will take some work on your part to find the best one for your particular needs.
There are many reputable agencies around that have been in business for many years. Many participate in different trade and professional associations and really make an effort to consider their clients’ needs in order to make the best possible matches. Other nanny agency services have good intentions but may be simply too inexperienced or lack the ability to effectively screen potential employees. And you have a few that are only interested in the bottom line and don’t really care about who they hire, about you or your children’s welfare.
Keeping this in mind, the first question you may want to ask is how long they have been in business. Being a new company does not mean it is bad but a company that has been in business for awhile obviously has been successful with clients. You should also ask them how many matches that they make in a set period of time, as this will let you know if your nanny agency’s interest is in obtaining successful matches, or in just sending out numerous candidates who may or may not be appropriate for the specific needs of a family.
Another consideration is the expense and whether or not they have a replacement or refund policy. Naturally, the fees for professional nanny agencies will vary across the nation and you should be sure that both parties are completely clear on what is and is not covered. Some will pro-rate the fee on an unsuccessful placement and others will not give a refund but may offer a live out or live in nanny replacement.
A good professional agency will check all of the references that they have been provided with on the potential nanny, as the nanny agency’s screening process is likely the most important facet of the business. An interviewer should be able to gauge a little of the applicant’s temperament and get an indication of the accuracy of the information. In your nanny search, make sure that the agency you choose is able to relate back to you exactly what your stated expectations are in order to be sure they understand.
