Infertility: Natural Treatment Options
I usually put off seeing the doctor for as long as possible. It’s not because I don’t feel he (or she) is skilled at what he does, it’s just that I’m not enthusiastic about pumping chemicals into my body that don’t need to be there, like those antibiotics I seem to get each time I do wind up going. I am aware that there’s a need for antibiotics, but I’m generally relatively wary. For me, when it comes to dealing with infertility, natural treatment is usually my first stop. Natural treatments regularly work just as well, they generally are cheaper and there are not as many side effects.
Some natural treatments will boost your fertility directly while others help your body to help itself by reducing tension and raisinggeneral wellbeing. So what exactly are these natural treatments for infertility? Here they are:
- Acupuncture – This is perhaps one of the most popular natural treatments for infertility. The acupuncturist will use super-fine needles to stimulate pressure points. In studies where acupuncture was peformed before and after IVF procedures the data seemed quite positive.
- Herbs – People underrate the power of herbs, so take care that you seek advice from someone who knows what’s going on.
- Homeopathy – Homeopathy may help both male and female infertility by stimulating the body to heal itself.
- Pilates and Yoga – Just make sure that your instructor knows a bit about yoga and exercise for infertility.
- Aromatherapy – We all know how essential timing is, and apparently aromatherapy can make your cycle regular.
- Naturopathy – Encompasses a wide selection of therapies – encompassing things like acupuncture and dietary changes.
- Sleep – Just get adequate sleep! As appealing as it is to stay up till the early hours of the morning researching infertility, it is quite unhelpful as sporadic sleep patterns can mess up your cycle too.
- The list continues!
Ensure that the guy with the needles is good at what he does! A licensed therapist is a necessity. Also, ensure that the person is aware that you are there regarding your infertility as some treatments may be inappropriate or they might have the reverse effect. Your infertility clinic may be able to refer you to someone experienced in the natural treatment of infertility.
You might be the sort of person who is quite wary about whether these therapies work or not, but despite those reservations I feel that there is no harm in having a little bit of tender loving care. It can help you feel less tense and perhaps more prepared to deal with your infertility – and less stress can only be good news for fertility.
When treating your infertility, natural treatments are good to try. Feel free to sample any or all of them; a little exercise, healthy eating, enough sleep and a good measure of tender loving care with some pampering on the side never harm anyone!
