Can You Breast Feed During Pregnancy?
Yes, you can breast feed during pregnancy. Just because your clear blue pregnancy test has showed that you are pregnant and your body is also showing symptoms pregnant, it doesn’t mean that you can’t continue with breast feeding. Long time back when science had not progressed this much doctors would discourage it, but now it is not so.
Usually what happens is that, many women feel very tired and drained out. Getting pregnancy is tiring and breast feeding takes it own toll. Many times the lactating mother finds that milk doesn’t form any more. These conditions may force her to stop breast feeding.
However, what ever may be your reasons for breast feeding, but once you decide to stop it, don’t be harsh with the child. Don’t just stop it al together. The poor child gets confused that why isn’t mother giving me milk.
You should gradually wean away the baby. Just yanking it off one fine day has long term ill effects on the child and he may be hurt psychologically for life. They may wonder that they are being punished for some wrong that they may have done. The baby gets restless and craves for more.
You will be getting advice from well meaning family and friends. In case you want to continue breast feeding your child even after getting pregnant, do consult a doctor. He may prescribe you supplements so that you don’t feel drained out and don’t suffer from malnutrition yourself. Remember you are going to need tons of energy feeding 3 of you, including yourself from your own reservoirs.
Take your own decision regarding it. It is your personal matter but yes; do consult a doctor because if your body is not healthy you will have life long problems when you are delivering the baby. Your body will refuse to cope!
